Farm Style Rustic Elegance

Kate and Adam enjoyed a first date at McKenzie Brew House in Chadds Ford. Kate’s dad, Kenny, best tells the next part of this romance. "Adam gave me a call to ask if he could spend the day working on the farm with me. When lunchtime came, Adam went to get lunch at Wawa and we sat on the tailgate of the truck to enjoy the view. During lunch Adam proceeded to ask me for Kate's hand in marriage. First I started to cry, and then I said we would be thrilled." Adam wasted no time and popped the question. Kate was totally surprised as they were "just relaxing around the house" after a nice dinner out.

The beautiful rustic elegance style-wedding day that Kate and Adam hoped for went off perfectly due to the very detailed planning of top planner Robin Lester, Kate's mom. She also brought in the professionals from Proud to Plan to keep it all together on the big day. It was only natural that this wedding reception and party was to be held at the family farm. The bride has been around farming her entire life and the groom works as an environmentalist.

Starting the day off at the Hotel DuPont, the girls got ready in style. Adam and the boys got their day started at the bride and groom’s new home in Wilmington, after which they proceeded over to Brandywine Creek Park where Adam got a first look at his gorgeous bride. Kate wore a Matthew Christopher gown from Van Cleve Wedding Pavilion in Paoli. She was perfection when her dad escorted her down the aisle of Westminster Presbyterian in Wilmington. After the family photos were taken on the lawn of the church by the team of Campli Photography in Malvern, the bridal party boarded the bus to Eagle Valley Farm. The farm has been in the family for generations, but has never quite looked like this. The first things to notice were the many personal details such as the homemade directional signs, and old window sashes hand painted with guest names and table assignments. The beautiful lace table runners made the long farm tables sparkle, as did the amazing florals by Sweat Peas of Jennersville. In one corner of the tent, mannequins displayed wedding gowns worn by mothers and grandmothers of the couple. The Lester family’s favorite caterer, Toscana of Wilmington, treated 350 guests to a perfectly complimented family style dinner. As the evening unfolded there were plenty of toasts and tears, including a very unique marriage box presentation by an uncle of the bride. The dance party was always kept rocking by the talents of All About Me from BVTLive!, and capturing all of the video of the day was the team of  CinemaCake. The father of the bride couldn't usher out the evening in regular fashion, so he went for the big bang of a fireworks display, giving everyone a break from the dance floor to enjoy the wedding cake and groom’s cake by The Master’s Baker of West Chester.

There was one detail that had to wait until the very end of the night to be completed. It was an oil painting of the actual party, painted at the actual party! Presented to the family at the end of the evening by wedding painter, Joan Zylkin. When the music stopped there was just one last treat for the guests to enjoy. Kenny Lester got on his hands and knees in his tuxedo and officially lit the farm bonfire. In the background were an old original farm tractor and the barn, which after much discussion, Kenny agreed not to repaint before the wedding because David Campli reminded him how authentic the cracked paint would look.
